I am not an old man; maybe not so young, but I still remember very vividly my days in Secondary school. It was so different back then. People ACTUALLY spoke to each other! And we minded our business. Heck! We allowed people to mind their business!
You know where I am going with this right? These days even if you wanted to, you cannot escape being inundated with other people's business; yes plus the very private ones! I will give you a few familiar examples: XYZ flashes side boobs! (Hian!! Just side boobs o! Then see people knacking heads together analyzing or fighting over it. smh); XYZ shows off hot bikini bod!! (Ewooo!!! come and see!!!) The colour of thongs He bought for his third baby mama! The colour of the dress SHE wore to a dinner date with her husband! Mind you a private dinner o!
Don't even get me started on the 'neck down, eyes on glass' syndrome. A scenario: A couple is on a date. The only time they actually speak to each other is when they are ordering. While waiting for the order to arrive, each will have eyes on those magical devices; instagramming, twittering, facebooking and so on. If they are popular enough, this fact will then make it to the blogs and we will relive it, analye it, quarrel about it, make enemies with complete strangers over it; all in the comments section. Virtual reality, right?
Oh! The good old days!! As teenagers, we played games! Real games o! Not behind some screen with people who you don't even know if they have mouth odour (M.O)! Hmmmm.....M.O!! I remember our game of scrabble and Chess with some of my buddies back then. One had a dangerous case of M.O. And he can whisper for life!!!!! He always wanted to tell you something: 'for your ears only'. So you could not escape the M.O, even if you tried. Those are the experiences that enriched our childhood! Maybe plus the occasional 'neighbourhood gossip'. Which I think is what has evolved into today's craze; only now the gossip is shared on a global scale, by complete strangers and people you did not even know existed!
Just a Rant, its not supposed to make sense.
